{"id":29,"date":"2016-07-08T15:57:36","date_gmt":"2016-07-08T15:57:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.n1rwy.org\/?page_id=29"},"modified":"2016-07-08T15:57:36","modified_gmt":"2016-07-08T15:57:36","slug":"sota-summits-on-the-air","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.n1rwy.org\/?page_id=29","title":{"rendered":"SOTA &#8211; Summits on the Air"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Summits on the Air, or SOTA is a fringe element of ham radio.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.w0c-sota.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/SOTA_1000x1000.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>Here the image folks sitting in a room full of computers, screens, radios and electronics equipment hunched over a radio is replaced with hams of all ages filling a backpack full of gear and heading to the hills!\u00a0 Once reaching the top of the peak, unloading their gear and setting up a station with a goal to work other hams from this mountain peak.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sota.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">SOTA<\/a><\/p>\n<p>I have done a little bit of SOTA activity in Maine, and now started up in Arizona as well, as the hiking season is a lot longer here, and you get summer bonus points for nabbing these peaks in the summer months.
